Don’t you hate it when Stupid Companies ask for a faxed* copy of your ID to prove where you live?!

Here’s the deal – I order something online using a Visa card, I want it delivered to our house. The “Stupid Company” asks:

“We have asked that you send us verification of the address details – a copy of an official letter showing the credit card address (eg. Credit Card Statement showing the cards billing address, a rates notice showing the address or a letter from a government department etc.)”

I mean really – wtf?! This particular company sells software, so presumably they have heard of Photoshop…

IF I AM GOING TO COMMIT FRAUD, I’LL USE PHOTOSHOP!

QED: they are only pissing off their honest customers.

<..end rant>

*Faxes were last used in the late 1900’s and are such low resolution that I could use sticky tape to fraud a mailing address!

About Me – Jonathan Atherton.

I thought I better put a Bio up about myself - riveting reading!

Jon Atherton was born in Brisbane , brought up mainly in Melbourne schooled at Wesley College and RMIT (briefly) in BioTech. Jon Atherton joined the Army reserve and then moved into the commando signals unit 126 Signal Squadron Special Forces.

After the Commando unit and some full time duty Jon Atherton decided to join the Regular Army and went to Royal Military College Duntroon in 1986, to be trained as an Officer, graduating as a lieutenant in 1987, he worked in Toowoomba (7Sig) and Brisbane (1 Sig + 4 Sig). Jon met his wife Janine in Brisbane and decided to leave the army and stay in Brisbane.

Jon Atherton Left the Army in 1991 and started his own business importing and distributing triathlon gear such as carbon wheels, bike frames and heart rate monitors. In 1995 he did some work for Microsoft via the MSN portal program and then moved into web software development. He sold what had become the bike business and concentrated on software development full-time.

In the late ’90’s he partnered with an old Army friend who managed the business development and management, whilst Jon focussed on the software engineering side of the business. The new partnership grew into what would become a very large advertising and banking network working for businesses worldwide in the late ’90’s and early 2000’s. The pair dissolved their partnership in about 2004.

Jon Atherton then focussed on building a large property rental portfolio which he had started investing in in 1996. He was also involved in car racing – competing in Targa Tasmania.

Jon’s young family now takes up a lot of his time, duties include acting as his sons soccer and AFL coach. He has dabbled in software design and marketing of the Wobble iPhone Application.

Jon Atherton’s interests include organic gardening, including vegetables and citrus trees plus of course the backyard chicken raising. Jon Atherton is also a very keen skier and plans to retire to a mountain, just as long as there are Barramundi present.

The world champion athletes at the Winter Olympics receive gold, silver, and bronze medals that contain roughly the same amounts of metal as the last Summer Olympics.

A gold medal contains 550 grams of silver and is layered with just 6 grams of gold.
A silver medal has 509 grams of silver and about 41 grams of copper.
The bronze medals likely contain about 450 grams of copper and 50 grams of mostly tin and zinc.

At current market prices, a gold medal is exchangeable for about $494, a silver for about $260, and a bronze for just $3. If the gold medal was solid gold with the same mass, it would be exchangeable for almost $20,000.

Levi van Veluw´s photo series are self-portraits, drawn and photographed by himself: a one-man-process. His works constitute elemental transfers; modifying the face as object; combining it with other stylistic elements to create a third visual object of great visual impact.
